A Visualization technique to help you stick to your resolutions!!
Happy New Year!!! 2011!! and you know its not just a new year… but a whole new decade!! So what are you going to do? What positive changes or resolutions are you going to make?
The Start of every year people make their new years resolutions… from stopping smoking, to losing weight… to getting more confidence and improving communication still… to clearing out all the unhealthy junk food and boosting that new healthy you that just cant wait to get into the gym and become the best you can possibly be! People have high hopes of achievement for the coming year….

So why is it then that by at least March of the New Year…Your either back smoking or eating junk food and the lucky gym you joined is still receiving your direct debit – but your nowhere to be seen?!!
So how do you stick to your resolutions (which are in fact your future goals!) and keep yourself on the healthy positive path you decided this decade was going to be?
First of all you have to be able to see yourself in your future living, being, feeling and acting in your new resolution lifestyle. Visualize yourself achieving your goals… project your mind to say 7 months in your future still a Non Smoker (if stopping smoking was your resolution) or going to the gym and losing weight (if that was your resolution)! You see it doesn’t matter what it is that you decide to change for the better at the beginning of a new year – we are all different – so we all have different goals, dreams, desires and resolutions for our own lives… so don’t just choose a goal or resolution because your friend or family member is! Whatever you decide… one of the main factors in achieving and sticking to your resolution… is just being able to visualize yourself still doing it in your future.
Visualization Technique
· Imagine yourself in say 6 months time still achieving your resolution and living in your new more positive way.
· Notice what are you wearing? What your hair look like?
· Visualize yourself with a strong and confidence posture. Confident body language. Strong and secure facial expression.
· Now see yourself happy, content, and proud of yourself that you are still sticking to your resolution.
· Get all the feelings in your tummy of satisfaction of achievement.
Great – now open your eyes. You have now created a future image of yourself achieving and sticking to your resolution! Congratulations! It will be much easier for you to stick to it now!! How does that make you feel? Pretty good huh?!

The other important factor in resolutions is making them realistic and attainable. Being unrealistic with your resolution is where most struggle. People need to feel they are getting somewhere – so the secret is to start small and achieve that small first goal and then move onto your next bigger goal. You will find that you will feel great after achieving even the smallest step and it will then motivate you even more to continue on! Being able to measure your progress and achievement creates momentum, drive and continual focus. If you want to get fit – then commit yourself to just 2 days a week working out. Anymore than that you will end up pushing yourself to far and losing the momentum, and creating feelings of disappointment in yourself. If however you do your 2 days – and manage to fit in an extra day! Then great… all the better!!
And as its recession time – remember to keep a tight rain on your money!
So if you do spend money on something worthwhile that will benefit you in the future and add value to your life; like joining a gym to get fit and lose weight or on hypnosis for stopping smoking… then make sure the money was worth spending and this year you stick to your decisions and be the go-getter you know you are! The most important thing of all is having self belief! You have to believe in yourself, because if you don’t – nobody else will either! Be committed and trust that you can and you will stick to your New Years Resolutions – make this year different!
Happy New Decade!!
